Sakai/Moodle Access Instructions

The Learning Management Site (LMS) ,called Moodle, provides ISCAR 2008 participants and presenters, a unique ecology of participation to interact with each other--(we had originally advertised it as Sakai).  Moodle is a web-based site that allows individuals to access papers and other materials of presenters and to collaborate through a variety of forums like discussion threads, wiki's, and blogs.  The ISCAR 2008 Moodle site, has organized the submitted papers into themes.  Please let us know if papers have been inappropriately categorized—see below for contact information.

Creating a Moodle account:

1.  Go to :  http://moodle.id.ucsb.edu/

2.  Click on the link called "create new password" on the upper left corner of the page.

3.  Fill in all the required dialogue boxes and click the “create new account” button.

4.  Go to your own email account, retrieve confirmation from Moodle,  and click on the appropriate link to confirm your new account.

5.  Once you select the link, you will be directed to the Moodle site again, where you will need to add an enrollment key.  The enrollment key for the ISCAR site is "racsi".

***    If you have the Firefox Browser already loaded to your computer, please follow the directions below to change the language displayed.

-Go to Preferences under the Firefox drop down menu, and a main menu will be displayed.  Then, you'll click on the "Advanced" icon.

-Select the "General" tab.  And, on the bottom of the "General" tab page, select the "Choose" button to change language displayed on the Firefox Browser.

-A new window will open, and select your preferred language from the drop down menu.

-Then, select the word "add", and then click the button "Move up" to establish your preferred language.

-Select the button OK, and close and restart your browser to make sure your preferred language appears.
